Hurricane Gordon tail end delays Ryder Cup practice
High winds from the tail end of Hurricane Gordon delayed the start of the Ryder Cup practice at the K Club on Wednesday and Europe's golfers now started at 1115 BST, following a meeting between the police, Health and Safety officers and K Club and Ryder Cup officials.
Strong gusts of more than 40mph meant access was restricted, but spectators were allowed back in from 1000 BST onward, however, the forecast is for more bad weather before the main event begins on Friday.
The American team still have to decide when they will start their practice round.
Europe's Paul Casey said the delay was frustrating, but he explained that the players were making the best of the situation.
"We're 12 very good friends - it's fun to be in the locker room on days like this," Paul Casey said, adding that the players had been relaxing in a variety of ways, with massages, pool, darts and sleeping.
Buses to the course near Dublin had been suspended and spectators have been requested via media outlets in Ireland to delay their arrival until later.
