Golfer Luke Donald hopes home patch will help his USPGA Championship bid
Golfer Luke Donald hopes that playing on his home patch will give him an advantage at the USPGA Championship, the fourth and final major of the golf season.
Englishman Luke Donald, 28, is based in Chicago, just 40-minutes drive away from Medinah Country Club.
"It feels a little bit more relaxing because I don't have to travel to get here," said Luke Donald.
"I've played Medinah a number of times, including a couple last week to really get familiar with how it's playing," Luke Donald added.
Luke Donald, who had spent four years at Chicago's Northwestern University, was still only an amateur golfer when the USPGA was last at Medinah back in 1999 and he then failed to qualify for the 2003 US Open at nearby Olympia Fields, where world number three Jim Furyk gained his first and so far only major title.
In view of his past career and current status it is an important week in Ryder Cup terms for Luke Donald.
