Golfer Laura Davies wins at Ladies Golf Open
Woman golfer Laura Davies shot six-under par 66, and in so doing, she claimed her first title in just over a year at the Ladies Golf Open in Austria.
Laura Davies, 43, carded a course record 65 in round two, and finished on 16 under to take her 36th Ladies European Tour title.
Laura Davies said proudly: "It was getting late in the year and I've only got eight tournaments left so I had to win one."
Laura Davies began the day at 10 under par with a one-stroke lead over Sophie Gustafson, but a double bogey by the Swedish golfer on the fifth gave Laura Davies the chance she needed to go ahead and claim her first victory in Austria.
Laura Davies is reported to have also said:: "It's massive, it's massive. I just love winning trophies and this makes it that there was only one year in 23 that I didn't win a tournament (2005) and that still wrangles me.
"I love the golf course and that was one of the reasons I came back. I knew I could do well around here and here I am: I'm the winner."
