Golfer Jim Furyk says America played "horrendously"
America's golfers lost the Ryder Cup because they played "horrendously" and not because of lack of motivation, world number three Jim Furyk said.
Jim Furyk, 36, was speaking at the World Golf Championships event in Hertfordshire, and said he was insulted by some questions about the team.
"If you can't get up for the Ryder Cup you don't have a pulse," Jim Furyk said, and he added:
"We obviously got outplayed in all aspects and did a horrendous job. It's something we'll have to work on."
Jim Furyk said people questioning whether the American golfers really cared about the team game rather than playing as individuals offended him.
"I had a writer ask me point-blank on Sunday whether, in the whole scheme of things, it actually mattered to me," Jim Furyk said adding: "Wanting to reach out and strangle him, I just bit my tongue, said 'yes', told him he offended me, and walked away."
