Golfer Jim Furyk may miss USPGA event due to injury
American golf star Jim Furyk may have to miss next week's USPGA Championship after a back injury forced his withdrawal from this week's WGC Bridgestone Invitational.
The USPGA is the final major this summer and will be held at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from 9 August.
Jim Furyk, 37, who is world number two, hurt himself during practice for the WGC event at the Firestone Country Club in Ohio on Tuesday.
"I would love to try to be prepared and ready to go at the PGA, but if that's not the case, just get healthy and get strong," Jim Furyk said.
Last weekend, however, Jim Furyk was doing well and won the Canadian Open and this saw him beat Phil Mickelson in the world rankings as the new number two behind Tiger Woods who is at the top.
And Jim Furyk tied for second place at the US Open at Oakmont in June as well as tying for 12th position at the Open at Carnoustie in July.
