Golfer David Howell returns after injury problems

david howell English golfer David Howell knows his career has had problems recently with two months away from the sport due to back and wrist problems, however, he is making his comeback in the European Open at the K Club in Ireland this week.

David Howell, 32, last played at the Players Championship in Florida in May.

David Howell said: "I had a masterplan for this year, but that has all just been thrown up in the air now,

"The most frustrating thing is that I put in as much time and effort into my career as anyone."

David Howell had been ranked 10th in the world just a year ago, but has since slipped to 38th, and since the Masters in April, he has only played 20 competitive holes.

This week's European Open will mark David Howell's first tournament in Europe this year and he is concerned that his time off and recent injuries will have affected his performance.

"Apart from one round I've not played for the best part of three months now and golf's all about momentum," David Howell explained.
