Golfer Colin Montgomerie says Nick Faldo has a "hard job"
Golf star Colin Montgomerie thinks Europe's recent Ryder Cup domination has put a lot of pressure on 2008 captain Nick Faldo and last month's 18˝-9˝ victory over America in Ireland was Europe's third straight win.
"For Nick, it's almost a shame that Europe have been so successful," said Colin Montgomerie.
"He has to continue the run as it's almost expected now, but in sport when you're expected to do anything it's tougher to achieve," Colin Montgomerie added and he cautioned: "He's got a hard job ahead of him while the American captain will have nothing to lose - in fact he's expected to lose."
Colin Montgomerie, who was speaking at a HSBC Wee Wonders coaching clinic, explained: "A win in America would be great but it will be very difficult to achieve.
"But Nick will be a very good captain. I've learnt a lot from him over the years. I played with him in 1993 and 1995 and he loves the Ryder Cup.
"He will do it his way and that's fine because that's what you want - it's no good having a wishy-washy person in charge.
"You need leadership and someone who is decisive, and Nick is."
