Golf star Seve Ballesteros hopes to play the Open next year

seve ballesterosSpanish golf legend Seve Ballesteros is hoping to take part in the 2010 Open at St Andrews when he has fully recovered from the operations he had for a brain tumour. He was also given a course of chemotherapy treatment.

52-year-old Ballesteros had to have four bouts of surgery to remove the tumour and to reduce swelling that had come about.

In his incredible past career Ballesteros had been the winner of three Opens, including the 1984 Championship at St Andrews, so he would be making a return to the course he had won on before.

Ballesteros found out about his brain tumour when he collapsed at Madrid Airport and was then rushed into La Paz Hospital where doctors diagnosed his condition. Since his operations and treatment Ballesteros has been recovering well and so he has good reason to feel confident that he will be fully fit for next year's event.
