Golf star Phil Mickelson to play in the US Open
Golf star Phil Mickelson has decided he will be taking part in the US Open later this month in spite of his worries about his wife, who is suffering from breast cancer.
38-year-old Mickelson had said last month that he was going to be away from the sport for a while because of his 37-year-old wife Amy's illness.
However, Mickelson has now said he will play at the US Open, which is being held from 18-21 June.
It is thought that the treatment schedule his wife is having for cancer will not clash with Mickelson's part in the important tournament.
Phil and Amy Mickelson were married in 1996 and the couple have three children.
Mickelson has already won the US Masters on two occasions and also holds an impressive USPGA title and unless worrying about his wife affects his play he is likely to do very well at the Open.
