Golf star Phil Mickelson pulls out of BMW Championship

phil Golf star Phil Mickelson has decided to withdraw from this week's BMW Championship, which marks the third leg of the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup series.

Phil Mickelson had won the Deutsche Bank Championship on Monday putting him in the lead of the FedEx standings with just two events left but nevertheless he is pulling out saying he needs more time to spend on his business affairs and with his family.

Phil Mickelson said: "This decision was not an easy one to make, and in no way is meant as disrespectful to the Tour or 'sending a message' to anyone."

"I've talked for weeks about needing to find a balance between my game, my business affairs and my family."

Phil Mickelson also said: "I want to have a balance in my life.

"It's been the last three months having no more than two days off at a time and working to do corporate outings in between."
