Golf star Paul Casey to represent the UK at US Open
English golf star Paul Casey will be leading the UK's challenge when the US Open starts on Thursday at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.
If successful at the American tournament, Casey, who is currently ranked at world number three in the sport, would be the first English golfer to win the title since Tony Jacklin succeeded in doing so back in Hazeltine in 1970.
Casey will face some stiff competition because US star Tiger Woods is hoping for a 15th major title and Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose are taking part at the event as well.
Casey says he is going to do all he can to win at the US Open, and he said that it was one of his favourite events in golf.
English golf stars Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Ross Fisher and Oliver Wilson will be contestants at the US Open as well.
