Golf star Nick Faldo wants next year's Seve Trophy captaincy

nick faldo Golf star Nick Faldo wants next year's Seve Trophy captaincy to help him with his goal of leading Europe to a fourth straight Ryder Cup victory in 2008.

Nick Faldo, 49, will be captain for Great Britain & Ireland against Continental Europe in his first time as a team captain since school.

"I couldn't ask for a better way to cut my teeth than to match up against Seve Ballesteros and his team," Nick Faldo said.

"I also don't think it's a coincidence that Europe is unbeaten in Ryder Cup matches since the Seve Trophy began," Nick Faldo added.

The competition was started by Spanish golf legend Seve Ballesteros six years ago, in which time Europe have won three Ryder Cups.

"Europe has gone on to dominate in a way that we never believed possible some years ago," Nick Faldo, who believes team spirit has been the key to Europe's recent Ryder Cup successes, said.
