Golf star Michelle Wie last at Casio World Open in Japan
Hawaiian women's golf star Michelle Wie relived her worst score in a men's tournament to come in a disappointing last place after the first round of the Casio World Open in Japan.
Michelle Wie, 17, who has only made the cut once in 12 men's golfing events, carded nine bogeys to post a nine-over-par 81, said: "It was frustrating but I don't think it was the pressure. I'm not playing that badly.
"I don't think the score reflects my play. I just need to get my confidence back with my driver."
Teenage golf sensation Michelle Wie started on the back nine in light rain but bogeyed the 12th and then rolled in four straight bogeys from the 14th.
Michelle Wie failed to sink a single birdie and completed the first round last out of the 102 players.
At a past much better performance, Michelle Wie made the cut at the men's SK Telecom Open in South Korea in May but since then she has struggled in the last three male events.
Michelle Wie pulled of the John Deere Classic citing heat exhaustion and came last in the European Masters and 84 Lumber Classic.
