Golf star Colin Montgomerie shares lead in his 500th event
Veteran Scottish golf star Colin Montgomerie has shared the lead midway through round one of the opening day of the Andalucia Open in Seville.
45-year-old Montgomerie is currently ranked at 137th position in the world and his performance in this tournament marks the Ryder Cup captain's 500th European Tour event.
Montgomerie managed to card four birdies in his first six holes and although he had a bogey due to the water, the veteran golfer still came up with a 67.
Steven O'Hara, also from Scotland and French golf player Jean-Francois Lucquin were alos at five under like Montgomerie .
Montgomerie has become the 18th player to play at as many as 500 events and his past record includes a very impressive 182 finishes in the top 10.
Montgomerie said he had had a very enjoyable and also nostalgic day. It will definitely be one to remember.
