Golf star Colin Montgomerie not happy with Masters organisers
Scottish golf star Colin Montgomerie is annoyed by the Masters organisers because they invited three Asian players for commercial reasons, which he feels isn't right.
Chinese golfer Liang Wen-Chong, Thailand's Prayad Marksaeng and Indian player Jeev Milkha Singh are all on the line up to play at the event.
But a bitter 44-year-old Colin Montgomerie, who hadn't qualified himself, pointed out: "It's a strange way to make up a field for a major championship - TV rights."
However, Augusta chairman Billy Payne from the organisers side responded: "These three individuals are successful, accomplished and talented golfers deserving of an invitation."
Colin Montgomerie, who is currently ranked 75 in the world, will not be at the Masters for only the second time in 17 years.
The three Asian golfers, who will be playing and who he is complaining about, are ranked 111th, 93rd and 80th and Colin Montgomerie thinks it isn't fair.
Colin Montgomerie said: "They are quite open about why, just as they were when I missed out last time in 2005, when they picked Shingo Katayama, then 67th in the world. I was 51st at the time. They picked him over me for the Japanese TV rights."
