Golf's new drug test rules condemned
Anti-doping boss Dick Pound has been very critical of golf's new drug-testing policy following their own list of banned substances being what is on the list of banned substances, which includes anabolic agents, hormones, stimulants, narcotics, beta blockers and masking agents.
Golf has come up with its own list of prohibited drugs and the means for each organisation to test for these substances will come into effect in 2008.
Golf star Gary Player had said back in July that he knew of professional golfers who were taking performing-enhancing drugs, and he called for more testing.
Dick Pound said: "There is quite a lot of progress that's been made.
"It's very disappointing, however, that they would not use (the Wada) list."
Golfing organisations who made the new drug policy include the PGA Tour, European Tour, US Golf Association, Royal & Ancient, Augusta National Golf Club, the PGA of America and the LPGA.
However, as Dick Pound noted they didn't use Wada's list of banned substances.
