Fijian golf star Vijay Singh beats Lee Westwood
Fijian golf star Vijay Singh battled to successfully defeat Lee Westwood by one shot and to win the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational title in Ohio.
45-year-old Singh, who had been sharing the overnight lead with both Westwood and Phil Mickelson, succeeded in firing a final-round 68 to close his game on 10 under.
Westwood finished as runner up with 69 for a joint second place with Australian golfer Stuart Appleby and Mickelson ended up in fourth position.
By winning the event Singh had ended his longest run without claiming a PGA Tour title in six years.
On the whole, Singh had missed out on some chances that came his way, but nevertheless he made the most out of others and came out on top.
And after dropping out of the top 10 golfers in the world during his prolonged patch of bad luck, Singh has now gone back in the contenders for the number one spot with an impressive position at number four.
