English golfer Karen Stupples is optimistic
England's Karen Stupples managed to hang on to her dream of making the ADT Championship come true when she scored with a five-under-par halfway total for fifth at the Tournament of Champions.
Karen Stupples now needs to finish in the top two this weekend in Alabama to qualify.
Elsewhere, Moira Dunn, with a 67, and Juli Inkster, with a 69, tied for the lead on eight-under-par 136 and they were ahead of another American golfer, Cristie Kerr, who fired a 66, while first-round leader Paula Creamer dropped back to six under.
Mexican woman golfer Lorena Ochoa, who will be named the LPGA's Player of the Year if she wins the title on Sunday, was in equal fifth place along with Karen Stupples.
Karen Stupples is expecting her first child in the spring, and she has hinted that this could be her last golf event until next summer.
"But I'll certainly play if I qualify for West Palm Beach next week," Karen Stupples said, adding: "Apart from the first hole, I played really well today. I'm playing pretty relaxed golf."
