English golfer Ian Poulter plays well in Texas
English golf star Ian Poulter has carried on his recent run of impressive play when he claimed a four-under-par 66 in the first round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational in Texas.
Poulter, who had been runner-up to Henrik Stenson in the Players Championship, is just three shots away from Woody Austin and Tim Clark, who are the current leaders.
33-year-old Poulter birdied his opening hole and, then following his loss of a birdie at the par-five 11th, he made up for it by taking another at the 12th.
Poulter took another shot at the 16th and progressed to the turn in 32, and he also gained a fourth at the 3rd.
The only bit of trouble that Poulter encountered was a double-bogey six at the 5th, however, he soon made up for that.
Besides Poulter's 66, Paul Casey scored a 66 as well, and Luke Donald claimed a 68.
