English golfer David Lynn beats his pain at China Open
English golfer David Lynn managed to combat his pain, from having had a boil removed from his groin, to take a one-shot lead at the halfway stage of the China Open.
David Lynn hit a 67 to lie one ahead of Marc Cayeux, Prayad Marksaeng and Jose-Filipe Lima and defending champion Paul Casey is four strokes away from the leader.
Pre-event favourite Henrik Stenson is two shots further back after shooting a 68 and this was in spite of having a quadruple bogey at the 15th hole.
French golfer Christian Cevaer, who led after the first round, hit a level-par 72 to come three shots behind David Lynn, who is going after his second European Tour win.
David Lynn said that earlier on in the week he had considered pulling out from the tournament because of the pain from the boil, which had been caused by a mosquito bite.
"It has been festering since last Friday and it became quite large and quite painful," said the 32-year-old golfer.
"I saw the doctor on Monday and it got quite bad on Wednesday and Thursday. I couldn't really line up my putts, " David Lynn explained.
David Lynn, who has now had the boil cut away, went on to say: "It's quite a large hole now and it needs dressing. It takes your mind off golf."
