Denmark golfer Thomas Bjorn backs Darren Clarke for Ryder Cup
Denmark's Thomas Bjorn says that golfer Darren Clarke should be given one of the two wildcards for the European Ryder Cup team.
Darren Clarke, who lost his wife Heather when she died from cancer on 13 August, could be chosen when Ian Woosnam announces his team after this weekend's BMW International Open.
"If I was captain, that's the way I'd be thinking," said Thomas Bjorn, who is one of Darren Clarke's main rivals for a wildcard.
"If he's ready to play, that's great, I can't see a team without him. He's one of the best ball-strikers in the game."
Darren Clarke, who hasn't taken part in golf since July, will make his return to the action in the Madrid Masters, a week before the Ryder Cup begins on 22 September at the K Club.
If Darren Clarke is chosen, it will probably leave his friends Thomas Bjorn and Lee Westwood battlting for the final spot
