Colin Montgomerie thinks the Scots are good enough for Ryder Cup

colin montgomerieGolf star Colin Montgomerie thinks that professional golfers from Scotland are good enough to qualify for the Ryder Cup at the Celtic Manor in 2010.

It was the first time the European team, which lost out last year, had been without a Scottish player since 1937 and this came as a disappointment to Montgomerie.

45-year-old Montgomerie has a most impressive performance record himself and has not been beaten in a singles match in the last ten years of Ryder Cup contests.

However, last year, Montgomerie was not included in Nick Faldo's team following a disappointing season in which he had slumped down the world golf rankings and was outside the top 100.

Montgomerie has dropped further since then and is now 187th in the world but he is still very optimistic about Scotland's chances next year.
