Australian golfer Aaron Baddeley wins Heritage Classic
Australian golfer Aaron Baddeley held off opponent Jim Furyk to triumph at the Heritage Classic in South Carolina.
Aaron Baddeley, 25, birdied two of the last five holes for a one-under-par 70 and 15-under-par total, two strokes clear of American golfer Jim Furyk who carded a 71.
It was Aaron Baddeley's maiden PGA Tour title and he became the fourth Australian to win at Harbour Town, following Graham Marsh (1977), Greg Norman (1988) and Peter Lonard (2005).
Jim Furyk, the 2003 US Open champion, was two strokes clear with seven to play, but had to settle for second place after bogeying the 12th and 17th.
"It's fantastic winning here and it's great to keep it in Australia," said Aaron Baddeley, who was given a tartan jacket and a cheque for $954,000.
Jim Furyk, who was trying for his 11th PGA Tour title, said: "I just needed some of those putts on the back nine to go in. He knocked in more than I did."
