Australian golf star Geoff Ogilvy beats Tiger Woods
Australian golf star Geoff Ogilvy has won the WGC-CA Championship in Miami by one stroke, and in so doing he ended Tiger Woods' run of success.
Geoff Ogilvy carded a one-under-par 71 for a 17-under total of 271, leaving him one shot clear of top players Retief Goosen, Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk.
And Tiger Woods, who had won his last seven golf tournaments, has had to be content with fifth position, although he was not too upset by losing and said: "I made too many mistakes. I had four three-putts this week."
Geoff Ogilvy parred his last nine holes on Monday, and among them was a chip-in at the 13th. Geoff Ogilvy had already had two birdies and a bogey on the front nine on Sunday.
"It was a pretty stellar-looking leaderboard over those last nine holes, so it was very satisfying to beat those players and to win a big one," a triumphant Geoff Ogilvy said afterwards.
