American golfer Chad Campbell triumphs at Bob Hope Classic
American golfer Chad Campbell got through some testing times to emerge victorious at the Bob Hope Classic.
31-year-old Chad Campbell scrambled a one-under-par 71 to finish three shots clear on 25 under at the Classic Club.
Classic Club. "It wasn't the prettiest day for me but I grinded it
out," explained Chad Campbell, who finished ahead of Scott Verplank and
Jesper Parnevik.
English golfer Justin Rose, who began the day in fourth, carded a two-over 74 to fall back to a share of 10th.
After dropping a shot on the tricky short sixth, the 25-year-old found
the lake at the eighth, then went into the greenside bunker with his
second ball and ran up a double bogey six.
Greg Owen had a disappointing final day with five bogeys contributing
to his round of 75, putting him on eight under for the tournament and
fellow golfer from England, Brian Davis was a shot further back.
Phil Mickelson, who was level with Justin Rose overnight, shot
a one-under 71 to tie for fifth with Canadian Mike Weir and Australian
golf player John Senden.
