American golfer Brian Gay leads in Miami

brian gay American golfer Brian Gay carded a bogey-free 64 to go into the lead of a host of stars at the Chrysler Championship in Miami.

Brian Gay, who is still chasing his first career win, birdied four of the first five holes at the Palm Harbor Copperhead course and is two shots clear of 1989 Open champion Mark Calcavecchia.

Golf star Ernie Els is among a large group on two under, which is one better than Vijay Singh and two better than Adam Scott.

The Chrysler Championship has attracted a number of big golfing names eager to either confirm their places in the season-ending Tour Championship next week in Atlanta or find some form before that event.

With only the top 30 on the money list earning a place at the Tour Championship, Ernie Els, who hasn't won on the PGA Tour for two years, is in the not so good position of holding the last invite at present.
