Paraglider near Dimona causes Israeli Air Force worries
Two Israel Air Force fighter jets were scrambled on Monday to stop a wayward paraglider from getting too near a secret nuclear base by the southern desert town of Dimona, according to the Israel Defence Forces.
The IDF said it sent the jets into action after a paraglider was seen drifting toward the no-fly zone of Dimona and the location of the country's nuclear research site.
The paraglider, who was an un-named Dimona resident, was questioned by police forces after landing in a soccer field in the desert city and he told officers he was blown off course by strong winds
The man, who had got near to the no-fly zone around the nuclear site but had not entered it, was released from custody after it was shown that he had no criminal intent and did not break any laws.
