Welsh cyclist Nicole Cooke is ready for Ras de Cymru
Welsh woman cyclist Nicole Cooke will be competing in her home country when on Wednesday she takes part in the Lifeforce Ras de Cymru.
Nicole Cooke, 24, held on to her Grande Boucle Feminine title in France on Sunday and now is looking forward to her next race, this time back in Wales.
Nicole Cooke will take part in the opening four-mile time trial stage at Caerleon, near Newport but she will miss the rest of the five-day race because she has to defend her British Road Race title at Beverley, Yorkshire, on Saturday.
Nicole Cooke said: "It will be a nice little test after the Grande Boucle,
"It'll give me a chance to open up my legs to make sure everything's firing right before the British Championships.
"It fits in well with my preparations for Saturday and I'm very much looking forward to it."
After Wednesday's time trial, the first stage of the 396-mile Lifeforce Ras de Cymru begins in Abergavenny on Thursday.
