UK cyclist Mark Cavendish agrees with anti-doping rules
UK cyclist Mark Cavendish has said he is glad that the people who cheat by using drugs are getting caught with the anti-doping tests.
Cavendish had made his third victory in this year's Tour de France just hours after Italian Riccardo Ricco had been announced as the third rider to test positive for the banned blood booster EPO.
23-year-old Mark Cavendish explained his feelings this way: "Cycling's a passion, and maybe people who resort to doping don't have the same passion as me. I'm in the sport I love, which I don't want tarnished. It's good that the tests are working."
Ricco had failed the doping test after the time-trial stage at Cholet on 8 July, which caused the Saunier Duval team, of which he was a member, to withdraw from the race, although they were allowed to carry on by Tour de France organisers, the Amaury Sports Organisation.
