UK cyclist David Millar says cycling needs a fix
UK racing cyclist David Millar is reported to have said that the sport needs to sort itself out in the wake of the Tour de France scandals, which included positive drugs tests and the sacking of race leader Michael Rasmussen.
David Millar, 30, said: "It's time for everybody to get their heads together and fix this sport."
But David Millar doesn't think fellow rider Bradley Wiggins should abandon the Tour de France after he had been forced out when team-mate Cristian Moreni tested positive, and David Millar said: "Bradley is collateral damage in this war against doping and if there is one person who doesn't deserve it it's Bradley Wiggins. I hope it doesn't hurt him too much.
"I can understand how terrible and resentful he feels at the moment, but I hope he comes back and rides it again."
Bradley Wiggins will not take part in the Tour de France next year and is setting his sights on the Olympics in Beijing.
David Millar finished 69th in his second Tour de France and he added: "I wanted to get a stage win but I didn't have the condition to do it."
