UK T-Mobile cyclist Mark Cavendish wins in Knokke-Heist
British racing cyclist Mark Cavendish, who rides for T-Mobile has won in Knokke-Heist and claimed his eighth win of the season as a contestant in the second stage of the Eneco Tour, which has been staged in Belgium.
Mark Cavendish, 22, had a perfect lead and there was never any threat of opposition to his victory.
Now as a result it happens that Mark Cavendish's win matches Robbie McEwen's record of eight victories in his first season as a professional racing cyclist.
Mark Cavendish, who next takes part in the Tour of Britain in September, felt sure he was going to win when he was in the lead and he explained: "When I'm in the top three in the last 200 metres of a sprint, there's not many people out there can beat me."
Now he has equalled Robbie McEwen's record, Mark Cavendish says he has Italian sprinter Alessandro Petacchi's record as his next goal.
"It's my eighth season win, now I want to get 11 victories like Petacchi, " Mark Cavendish said.
