Tour de France winner Floyd Landis' former Phonak team to disband
Tour de France race winner Floyd Landis' former Phonak team is going to be disbanded following and as a result of his positive drugs test for high levels of testosterone and team owner Andy Rihs has been unable to find another sponsor after Phonak said they would pull out of the sport.
The Phonak team will finish at the end of the season.
"As a passionate cyclist, I am bitterly disappointed that the sport of cycling apparently has become a synonym for doping," Andy Rihs explained.
"I truly regret this development and it has brought me to the decision of disbanding the team," Andy Rihs added.
The Swiss-based Phonak team dismissed American rider Floyd Landis, 30, after analysis of his B sample confirmed excessive levels of testosterone in relation to epitestosterone.
Floyd Landis, who has denied ever taking performance-enhancing drugs and who intends to appeal, could now lose his Tour de France title and face a two-year ban from the sport.
