Team Barloworld's cyclist Ryan Cox dies
South African cycling star Ryan Cox, 28, who rode for Team Barloworld has died after complications developed after surgery on a major artery.
Barloworld have been stunned by Ryan Cox's unexpected and tragic death.
Ryan Cox was a part of the Barloworld team, which did well at the Tour de France, although he did not take part this year.
Ryan Cox had a vascular lesion operation in France in July, and had gone back home to South Africa to recover from the surgery, but the left leg artery carried on bleeding, it is reported.
Team Barloworld boss Claudio Corti said: "Ryan was a talented rider and a great ambassador for South African cycling,"
Claudio Corti added: "On behalf of Team Barloworld, our deepest condolences are extended to the Cox family."
Team Barloworld were included in the 2007 Tour de France after obtaining a wild card entry to the race, making Team Barloworld the first British based team to compete in the Tour de France since the ANC-Halfords Cycling Team competed in 1987.
