Scottish cyclist Chris Hoy aims for a new record
Scottish cyclist Chris Hoy will attempt to add the kilometre world record to his world and Olympic titles at La Paz in Bolivia on 12 May.
Olympic Games gold and silver medal winner Chris Hoy, 30, will be making his last run over the distance because the "kilo" has been scrapped from the 2008 Olympics.
Chris Hoy already holds the sea-level record for the distance and his new attempt to break the record will take place 3,640m above sea level.
Chris Hoy has already won gold at three World Championships, the 2004 Olympics and the 2002 Commonwealth Games and he said: "The motivation is to do with ticking all the boxes - to say I achieved everything I possibly could."
And Chris Hoy added: "I wouldn't be going out there unless I had a good chance of breaking the record but having said that, there is a question of how I'm going to deal with the altitude."
