Russian cyclist Nikolai Trusov beats Mark Cavendish
Russian cyclist Nikolai Trusov successfully avoided a late crash and beat Mark Cavendish on the second stage of the Tour of Britain so is now holder of the yellow jersey.
22-year-old Nikolai Trusov was part of a 36-man break, which made a move towards the lead after two-thirds of the difficult 105-mile leg of the race.
Nikolai Trusov kept up with the leading riders and after avoiding a four-rider crash close to the finish he took the lead to finish in Taunton.
UK rider Mark Cavendish, who had been the prologue and first stage winner, finished in a disappointing 34th place, more than 10 minutes behind Nikolai Trusov.
Russian rider Nikolai Trusov said after the race: "I was relieved to have avoided the mass fall and then very happy to win the stage. We came here to win and we're in a good position."
