Russian cyclist Denis Menchov wins Tour of Spain
Russian racing cyclist Denis Menchov, who rides for Rabobank, has won the Tour of Spain for the second time in his career and this time he celebrated on the podium.
Denis Menchov, 29, claimed the title in 2005 when Spanish rider Roberto Heras lost his title after testing positive for the banned substance EPO.
Denis Menchov, who stayed in the lead after taking the gold jersey on stage nine, proudly said: "It makes all the difference in the world to win it like this.
"A solid win was important. Now maybe I can crack the Tour de France too."
Carlos Sastre of Team CSC came in second place, while Samuel Sanchez of Euskatel-Euskadi was in third position.
As well as winning the Tour of Spain, Denis Menchov won the grey jersey as the top climber for the race and Daniele Bennati won the points title.
