Rider Jens Voigt wins on Tour of Germany
Rider Jens Voigt made by far the biggest victory of his career when he claimed a win in front of his home fans in the Tour of Germany on Wednesday.
CSC rider Jens Voight, 34, defeated American Levi Leipheimer and Andrey Kashechkin of Kazakhstan into second and third positions and Australian Graeme Brown headed a sprint finish to triumph in the final stage from Bad Krozigen to Karlsruhe.
"Today was a flat stage, not too hard, and I could enjoy wearing my jersey in front of my home fans," Jens Voigt said.
Jens Voight had held the leader's jersey since Sunday and easily retained it after starting the final stage with a one minute and 38 second advantage over the then current champion Levi Leipheimer.
Jens Voigt added: "I didn't spend more than one day off with my family between the Tour de France and the Tour of Germany and didn't ease up. It's been a hard race but I was ready for it."
