Retired cyclist Jan Ullrich's DNA matches blood in doping probe
Retired German racing cyclist Jan Ullrich's DNA has been matched to blood bags taken in the Spanish "Puerto" anti-doping investigation.
Jan Ullrich gave a DNA sample in February to allow a comparison to be made with the discovered blood. Unfortunately for Jan Ullrich, the state prosecutor's office in Bonn said on Tuesday that the recent analysis had established the connection between his DNA and the blood bags.

Jan Ullrich gave a DNA sample in February to allow a comparison to be made with the discovered blood. Unfortunately for Jan Ullrich, the state prosecutor's office in Bonn said on Tuesday that the recent analysis had established the connection between his DNA and the blood bags.
"The blood is Ullrich's," a spokesman for the prosecutor's office said and added: "Further investigations will establish the other facts."
Steroids, laboratory equipment used for drug transfusions and more than 200 bags of blood were discovered in raids in Madrid and Zaragoza, and Jan Ullrich had already suffered a lot of bad press because his name was implicated in the scandal.
However, Jan Ullrich had always denied any use of banned substances and the case was closed last month when a judge concluded that no offences were committed under Spanish law.
Jan Ullrich's lawyer Johann Schwenn said the new discovery could be "the result of manipulation".
