Prosecutors investigate unnamed doctor in Spanish and German doping scandal
Prosecutors have launched an investigation into a German doctor over the alleged supply of drugs to a Spanish sports physician who is at the centre of a huge doping scandal.
Federal agents and local prosecutors searched the home and the office of the doctor, who has not been named so far and a statement by the Federal Crime Office, which is the German FBI, said "comprehensive evidence" had been found.
The raids stemmed from a probe in Spain and Germany into Spaniard Dr Eufemiano Fuentes, the statement also said.
And more than a fortnight back, Spain's Civil Guard said it was investigating whether a German doctor had provided drugs to Dr Fuentes.
Five people in Spain, including Fuentes and another doctor, Jose Merino Batres, were arrested and charged in May when police discovered and removed drugs and frozen blood in Madrid.
Doctors Fuentes and Merino are both charged with crimes against public health but they deny any wrongdoing.
A Civil Guard report named more than 50 professional cyclists in the investigation.
