Next year's Tour de France from London route revealed
Next year's Tour de France route, which begins in London on 7 July, will be dominated by mountain stages, the organisers revealed on Thursday.
The 2007 race features six mountain stages instead of five and a tough summit finish on the Col de l'Aubisque.
Director Christian Prudhomme explained: "For the first time in 20 years, the last mountain stage finishes at the summit.
"It will be the toughest stage of the Tour. The yellow jersey holder better not be in a bad day at that point."
Christian Prudhomme added that he wasn't worried that the London start would take place exactly two years after terrorist attacks on the city's transport network killed more than 50 people.
A notable change from previous Tours will be the scrapping of the traditional transfer day , which takes the riders nearer to the mountains at the end of the first week.
The first individual time trial will take place at the end of the second week in Albi, and there will be no team time trial like there was last year.
