Lance Armstrong to race against Carlos Sastre in Italy

lance armstrongSeven times Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and Carlos Sastre will be competing against each other at the Giro d'Italia in 2009.

Armstrong still cannot say if he will take part in the Tour de France, but he has confirmed his place in the race in Italy where he will be up against Sastre, who previously had not been sure if he was going to enter it or not.

However, the Spanish cyclist says he has decided he will be in the Giro d'Italia and is looking forward to racing in the same event as the American, who will be making his return to cycling next year.

37-year-old Armstrong had gone into retirement in 2005 but recently decided to make his comeback next year.

Armstrong won the Tour de France between 1999 and 2005 but his appearance at the Giro d'Italia will provide Sastre with more motivation especially because the Spaniard has taken part in it before whereas the American hasn't. Sastre is hoping this will give him the advantage.
