Italian cyclist Cristian Moreni gets two years ban
Italian cyclist Cristian Moreni, who rides for Cofidis, has been given a two years suspension after he failed a doping test in the 2007 Tour de France by testing positive for testosterone.
Cristian Moreni, 35, failed the test during the 11th stage of the Tour de France, which was won by Discovery team's Alberto Contador.
Cristian Moreni, who was champion cyclist for Italy in 2004, had admitted his guilt straight away without even asking that his B sample be also tested.
Cofidis withdrew from the race and sacked Cristian Moreni.
This was the end of the race too for British rider Bradley Wiggins, an Olympic gold medallist who was also riding with Cristian Moreni on the Cofidis team.
Cristian Moreni was the second cyclist to be thrown out of the Tour de France, just 24 hours after Alexandre Vinokourov also tested positive.
