Floyd Landis sacks Will Geoghan for blackmail of Greg LeMond threat
Troubled cyclist Floyd Landis has sacked his business manager Will Geoghan because he threatened to make public the information that Greg LeMond had been a victim of child abuse.
Greg LeMond had revealed this on the fourth day of Floyd Landis' trial for testing positive for testosterone after he won last year's Tour de France but following the hearing, Floyd Landis' lawyer announced that Will Geoghan had been sacked.
Will Geoghan had indicated he would reveal that Greg LeMond had been sexually abused as a child if was allowed to testify.
Greg LeMond, 45, who has won the Tour de France three times, claimed he received the anonymous phone call the night before he was due to testify at the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) hearing but that he then traced the call back to Will Geoghan.
"I thought this was intimidation to keep me from coming here," Greg LeMond explained and added: "I was shocked, absolutely shaken and shocked. It was a real threat, it was real creepy."
Will Geoghan made an apology for his behaviour and said he had done this after he had been drinking beer.
