Disgraced cyclist Floyd Landis says the Inigo Landaluze verdict strengthens his own
Disgraced Tour de France winning cyclist Floyd Landis claims the decision to clear Inigo Landaluze of doping charges due to testing errors strengthens his own case.
Floyd Landis, 31, tested positive for the steroid testosterone but has always claimed the analysis by the French laboratory was in error.
Inigo Landaluze's result came from the same laboratory but he escaped being penalised when irregularities were found.
"The track record of scientific misconduct at Chatenay-Malabry seems to grow by the day," said Floyd Landis and he added: "The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decision to clear Inigo Landaluze on the basis of violations of testing procedure... strengthens my contention that the tests conducted on my sample were handled in an incompetent fashion and analysed on the basis of flawed science."
The CAS have admitted that the same person analysed both Inigo Landaluze's A and B samples, which contravened normal practice there.
If Floyd Landis is unsuccessful in his bid to have the doping charges dropped, he would be the first Tour de France winner to lose his title.
