Danish cyclist Michael Rasmussen protests
Michael Rasmussen has been protesting his innocence and the unfairness of what has just happened in the Tour de France race. Michael Rasmussen vowed to carry on as a professional rider after claiming his win in the Tour de France has been "stolen".
Michael Rasmussen, 33, was leading the Tour de France when he was sacked and pulled out of the race by his Rabobank team on Wednesday.
Michael Rasmussen was quoted in Danish newspaper Politiken as having said: "I have now had time to collect my thoughts and I can guarantee that I am not done as a rider,
"I feel I've won the Tour de France... but victory has been stolen from me."
Rabobank justified what they had done by saying Michael Rasmussen had lied about his whereabouts for one of the four drugs tests he missed in the past 18 months but Michael Rasmussen denied that he had lied, and said he he had been in Mexico at the time.
Michael Rasmussen also complained about how he was dismissed and said in the Berlingske Tidende newspaper: "I was kicked out of the hotel like an animal."
