Danish cyclist Michael Rasmussen aims to return
Danish cyclist Michael Rasmussen is planning his comeback to cycling, just one month after he was dropped from the Tour de France.
Michael Rasmussen, 33, had been in the lead of the Tour de France when his Rabobank team sacked him because they said he had lied both to them and the doping testers about where he was before the race.
Michael Rasmussen had denied any intentional wrongdoing at the time and is now in talks with Italy's Acqua & Sapone team.
Team director Palmiro Masciarelli is reported by The Associated Press to have said: "He wants to finish the season with us,"
"He showed me all his papers - the problem is with the Danish (cycling) federation. The confusion surrounding this case is enormous."
And Palmiro Masciarelli said that his team would decide if they were going to take on Michael Rasmussen by early next week.
Meanwhile the Gazzetta dello Sport reported Michael Rasmussen as saying: "I'm the victim of a great injustice, and my lawyers are working to take care of me."
