Cyclist Danilo di Luca's drugs hearing for later date
Racing cyclist Danilo di Luca and fellow Italian rider Eddy Mazzoleni have had their anti-doping hearings put on hold for a later date. Danilo di Luca will now appear in Rome on 14 July and Eddy Mazzoleni's appearance will be on 13 July.
Giro D'Italia winner, Danilo di Luca, 31, and Eddy Mazzoleni, 33, who took third place, were scheduled to be seen by an Italian Olympic Committee anti-doping panel later on this week, and were going to be questioned about doctor Carlo Santuccione, who is said to have supplied several top Italian sportsmen with prohibited substances.
Danilo di Luca's lawyer had asked for additional time to prepare for the hearing and this was granted.
If found guilty of the doping charges, Danilo di Luca and Eddy Mazzoleni could be sentenced to bans of up to two years.
Two more racing cyclists, believed to have also been involved, Ruggero Marzoli and Domenico Quagliarello, are due to be questioned as well.
