Cyclist Bradley Wiggins out of Tour de France
Bradley Wiggins is out of the Tour de France after the withdrawal of his Cofidis team due to Cristian Moreni failing a doping test.
Italian rider and Cofidis teammate to Bradley Wiggins, Cristian Moreni tested positive for testosterone after last Thursday's 11th stage.
Bradley Wiggins, 27, was 138th with two hours 42 minutes and 20 seconds off the lead of the race.
Bradley Wiggins was quoted in the Guardian as saying: "I don't want to continue in the Tour de France anyway, it is not supposed to be like this."
London's mayor Ken Livingstone, who had seen Bradley Wiggins in the Tour de France prologue, said: "This is deeply disappointing for Bradley Wiggins, who has had a fantastic Tour de France. "
Cofidis are one of 11 cycling teams not to win a stage yet and their withdrawal from the Tour de France leaves 19 teams still in the race after Astana also had to withdraw following Alexandre Vinokourov testing positive for drugs.
