Cyclist Alberto Contador not a definite for Tour de France
Current Tour de France champion cyclist Alberto Contador has no guarantee of a place in the event this year it has been revealed.
Alberto Contador, 25, who comes from Spain, has signed with the disgraced Astana team, who had to pull out of last year's Tour de France because of a string of doping scandals.
Patrice Clerc, who is the president of Tour organisation ASO, explained their viewpoint on the matter and hasn't ruled Alberto Contador out yet: "When we make our selection, we don't pick individual riders but rather the teams. Let us have the time to calmly make our decision."
Alberto Contador says his main aim for this year has been defending his Tour de France title, but he is hoping to claim a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics as well.
Alberto Contador said: "The Tour de France is my big goal and also the Olympic Games."
