Cycling fans fill Trafalgar Square for Tour de France
Thousands of cycling and sports fans have been congregating in Trafalgar Square for the opening ceremony of the 2007 Tour de France race.
All the teams and riders will be presented to the crowd before the Grand Depart this weekend.
London hosts Saturday's 7.9km prologue before the first stage on Sunday, which travels through thhe city and into Kent.
This year marks the first time the Tour de France has begun in England, although it is the third occasion of it passing through the country in its 104-year history.
There are five British cyclists participating in the Tour de France this year and Charlie Wegelius, who is making his first performance in the race, told the crowd: "This is what I have dreamt about since I was a small boy so to start my first Tour de France in Britain is the best I could hope for."
